We’re excited to start off fall semester for 2024 by welcoming Hope Gale-Hendry, a new Ph.D. student, to the lab! She will examine how wildfires are transforming ecosystems across North America.

We also wish Ceci a heartfelt farewell as she leaves the lab to pursue a Ph.D. at Northwestern University. Thank you so much for all your contributions and your good energy, Ceci!

  2. We are pleased to welcome Makayla Patrick as an undergraduate Wilkes Scholar to the lab! She is jointly advised by Marysa Lague and will help us think about vegetation change in the Great Basin.

We are thrilled to announce two awesome developments:

  1. Hannah Meier has joined the lab as a co-advised Ph.D. student! Welcome Hannah! She plans to study changes in the Great Salt Lake using remote sensing, field/lab work, and mathematical modeling.

  2. The lab’s grant proposal has been selected for funding in NASA’s Land Cover and Land Use Change program! See the Selections section at the program website for more information.

The DYCE lab welcomes its newest members! Yahampath Marambe has joined as a Ph.D. student who will work on forest responses to drought in the western U.S. Wanwan Liang has joined as Postdoctoral Researcher who will help develop land cover and aboveground biomass datasets for Canada and Alaska.

A website is finally here! In January of 2023, the DYCE lab began operation in the School of Biological Sciences at the University of Utah. We look forward to many adventures exploring ecosystem and carbon cycle dynamics!
